Periscope- What is it?

First I want to say thank you to all that participated in the #SPEDDollarDeals sale on TPT yesterday! I was super excited to see how many friends were able to get great deals and to get a few things for themselves as well as check out the few items I have up in my store.

So have you heard of this app called Periscope? Or you can check it out online at https://www.periscope.tv  I just saw it on my Instagram feed with lots of people signing up to use it, so I had to figure out what this is all about- and may be you too?

Here is what Periscope said about themselves:

OUR STORYJust over a year ago, we became fascinated by the idea of discovering the world through someone else’s eyes. What if you could see through the eyes of a protester in Ukraine? Or watch the sunrise from a hot air balloon in Cappadocia? It may sound crazy, but we wanted to build the closest thing to teleportation. While there are many ways to discover events and places, we realized there is no better way to experience a place right now than through live video. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but live video can take you someplace and show you around.
So basically it is, "exploring the world in real time through someone else's eyes." You can watch what other people video record (right form your smart phone) and watch their videos in real life (or at another time). So I am sure there will be lots of people joining this- and think of the many ways as teachers we can use this! And of course for personal use.  I am by far no expert on this but it seems that if you are on your computer to you add articles to share and read other articles... I am new and just playing around- if you know about this please share your wisdom and we can all learn together! Looking forward to this new social media outlet!

Until next time,

  2. It was actually really fun to play around with. You get a little bird chirp when someone you follow is videotaping live and you can tap to give them hearts or you can directly comment on the video while live streaming! I made a silly video of my boys last night while their dad was moving their "new" gigantic swing set! It was cool to see who followed your video and was watching live! Fun little app :-) Have fun playing around with it!!
